matt3sa 0 #1 October 13, 2008 My friend just bought a hypeye for his sony handcam. He started noticing that his videos were all blurry/fuzzy. He thought it was the camera (being old) and bought a brand new sony handcam. Same problem. We've found that the whole tandem video is clear, until he uses the hypeye. This typically happens after a brief interview in the plane half way up. He then puts the camera into the glove and uses the hypeye to activate the camera before exiting. Blurry video from that point on. It doesn't really make any sense to me at all. I don't even see how that would effect the video, but the fact is... it does. Anyone else experience this with the hypeye? FYI- we both use the same glove and cameras. The glove has no effect on the issue. We've tested this on the ground in the glove without the hypeye. cpoxon 0 #2 October 13, 2008 The Hypeye is able to retrieve zoom settings, although this is disabled by default. If you are using one of the really wide-angle lens <= 0.3x a lot of cameras require manual focusing otherwise it is blurry. Is it possible the zoom setting has somehow been enabled and is setting the zoome causing it to blur when you plug the Hypeye in? Manual available here. Icon134 0 #3 October 13, 2008 I had issues early on with some bugs using my hypeye Pro D suddenly deciding that I wanted to zoom in completely... I learned when it was happening by noticing that the indicator would stay yellow longer when I activated the camera. I'm not sure what causes it... but through trial and error I was able I have been able to figure out how to prevent it with my camera (for the most part)Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife... bomb420 1 #4 October 14, 2008 Matt, PM message me or email us for a replacement. It has to do with a focus override bit that Sony has in their newest protocol. When set and a lens screwed on, it goes to a preset focus. Sorry that you got a unit that some how slipped by but we will replace it right away. This is different than the zoom preset. -TrunkHYPOXIC
matt3sa 0 #5 October 14, 2008 Haven't even checked that possibility. We'll check it out first before an exchange. Thanks for the help though Trunk. We may be in touch soon.
