skydassi 0 #1 October 28, 2008 I'm testing the tg1 with the blackbox and hypeye d pro.. after setting the focus 0.1 and i try to connect the hypeye on the camera the camera reset the focus on 0.2 making impossible for me to record in focus. If the hypeye is connected to the camera i cant move the focus to 0.1! I tried the lens 0.5 and 0.3 and no luck.. I'm i the only one with this problem? thanks Pat
LoftyBanter 0 #2 October 28, 2008 Hey Pat, I'm flying the TG1 with the Hypeye D Pro - no probs. Setting the focus depends on the lens that you are using. I prefer manual focus to auto as if the subject is slidding in and out the cam does not keep up. My preferred method of focussing is to not use the lcd settings on screen ie 0.1 - as they are unreliable and do not register the superfine settings focus options. My preferred method of focussing is to hold the lens in front of the camera ( manually or automatically depending on your set up) and set the focus to auto - then when focussed - change this by choosing the manual setting via the lcd screen - this holds the setting. I am flying a cookie box with a liquid .3 (or sometimes a liquid .5 lens) + hypeye d pro The .5 does not show the helmet. The .3 does. When i focus the .3 i zoom the camera in a smidge before i focus - and this removes the outer edge of the .3 on the footage - awesum footage. If you are wanting to focus manually using the lcd numerical screen you can - but i find it notoriously unreliable especially on the .3 lens. Once you get to .01 on the lcd screen - the focus goes into super fine mode - so the focus changes - but the display stays at 0.1 - so if you push this once or 10 times you get a wildly different result on the "same 0.1 setting". The attached paper outlines Cookie experience on which buttons to push when setting without a visual reference. This doesn't always work for the .3 as the screen is tempremental and takes 4-6 touches to get in focus. Results depend on how long you hold the button down for and how hard you press. I believe much easier to use the lcd screen as a visual check when focussing. Use the auto function to focus then retain by moving to manual focus mode - it is far easier. Also - leave scene selection on auto - do not change to beach or ourdoor etc - as this means you can not use the auto button to focus the camera with a lens in front of it. As I say on my paper about the TG1 - attached - this camera has its quirks - but it is grt for filming my friends - and i do not even notice i am flying video - excellent pic quality - excellent recording and battery time - you just need to learn how to drive it to get the best results. Feel free to pm me with any questions - attached is the paper. Ciao Kate - aka LoftyBanter
boomslang 0 #3 October 29, 2008 That was an excellent reply. Thank you for that =)Cats land on their feet. Toast lands jellyside down. A cat glued to some jelly toast will hover in quantum indecision.
