everymansaved 0 #1 November 30, 2008 OK, so here's the situation. On my old laptop (PC) I had a premiere elements, and I was just about done our DZ's year end video. My computer then took an unfortunate journey down the stairs, and it was no longer useable, but I was able to recover the HDD from it. I Just bought a new computer (Mac) and got Premiere Pro. When I attempt to open the project file, it says that it was created on a previous version of Premiere and will not open on a Mac. Does anyone have a workaround for this? I really would like to avoid having to re-do all that editing! Thank in advance guys and gals!God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires. PhreeZone 20 #2 November 30, 2008 Elements and Pro are two different platforms, its not possible to move projects between them.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
everymansaved 0 #3 November 30, 2008 Really?!? I thought for sure that Pro would be able to open Elements files but not the other way around! Shit!!! That's what I get for assuming!God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
DSE 5 #4 December 1, 2008 moreover, the Apple version of Premiere won't open PC Premiere projects. You have to use AAF to move between em. At least, with CS4 that is the case...
everymansaved 0 #5 December 1, 2008 What's AAF??God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
DSE 5 #6 December 1, 2008 Advanced Authoring Format. I just realized, you're on a Mac. AAF export isn't supported on the Apple platform. On a PC, Project | Export | Export Project as AAF
everymansaved 0 #7 December 1, 2008 I suppose I could install my copy of Elements on Windows via BootCamp, eh?God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
DSE 5 #8 December 1, 2008 If you have a PC copy of Elements, yes.

mccordia 74 #10 December 1, 2008 You can open older adobe premiere files in after effects. Might be a solution there?JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
everymansaved 0 #11 December 1, 2008 What's after effects? Sorry, you'll have to excuse me, I'm very new at this Mac thing.God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
DSE 5 #12 December 1, 2008 Don't worry about AE/After Effects. it's not part of the Premiere Elements package. It's part of the Premiere PRO CS package. In short, it's a compositing tool. Fairly high end. Think "NFL graphics"
everymansaved 0 #13 December 1, 2008 Haha, yeah, I don't think I'll be needing that!God made firefighters so paramedics would have heroes...and someone can put out the trailer fires.
mccordia 74 #14 December 1, 2008 No, but (granted you own it) it can be an easy tool if you're converting/rendering old premiere projects and you dont have premiere nearby.JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
