james309 0 #1 December 9, 2008 I am helping a friend of mine mount his camera helmet this week. This helmet will have a lot of snag points, so I insisted he get a cutaway and use plastic nuts to secure the plastic bolts. Is it ok to use metal nuts to secure the plastic bolts, or should we try to find plastic nuts instead? I know plastic is not the correct term, but It's late and I'm drunk. Any help would be greatly appreciated. James CurtisYou only live once, but If you live like I did once is enough.
mr2mk1g 10 #2 December 9, 2008 They're nylon. The only place I have this kinda setup is for my ring sight - that uses nylon bolts (I think technically machine screws) which screw into the metal mount of the ring sight holder itself as the holes are threaded.... so on that basis I'd say metal nuts wouldn't matter as that would simply mirror my setup which is how the manufacturer sells the kit. You're looking for the nylon bolt/screw to shear if snagged so I don't think the fact that it's attached to a metal nut will hurt.... I think...
