PharmerPhil 0 #4 December 30, 2008 Sorry, I don't really know Vegas at all. I was just going for the obvious.
DSE 5 #5 December 30, 2008 Be sure you're using the HD/SDI capture app vs the DV capture app. Be sure the camera isn't in downconvert mode. These two are the most common culprits in any capture issue with HDV.
flr169 0 #6 December 30, 2008 I will have to look into that later today with the HC5 camera... With the SR5 cam of my brothers...I'm able to connect with his cable to my vaio laptop and use vegas to start the upload/import of his material... on the little window it says 1 of 174 and then as more is downloaded the % bar goes up... it get to about a 142 files uploaded then it gives me this error.. "an error occurred while opening one or more files. The reason for the error could not be determined." I tried doing this last night about 4 times....the last 2 attempts where with everything shut off...except for vegas ... thanks for any info... \ MikeLife's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting - "fcuk me what a ride!" DSE 5 #7 December 30, 2008 Very important question; are you using 8C? There is a known bug with HDV files in Vegas 7c/d and 8 a/b.
skydiveoc 0 #8 December 30, 2008 I am new to vegas (end of summer 09) and used the PMB browser to view files then import to vegas. Couldn't use windows files easily so just got used to this route. DSE could probably guide an easier route but this just worked for me. Download to PMB, analize files, then import to vegas. Still like it better than old board. Makes me feel smarter and that's hard to do!

idrankwhat 0 #10 May 20, 2009 QuoteVery important question; are you using 8C? There is a known bug with HDV files in Vegas 7c/d and 8 a/b. Do you know if 8 pro has this bug? I was having problems capturing HD last night. It about drove me crazy. I could manipulate the camera through the capture window but there was no video preview and nothing was actually captured. I only had success when I downconverted to SD. Also, I'm going under the assumption that I can download in HD but that I can render the final project in SD for DVD if I choose to. Any advice from anyone would be appreciated before I start banging my head on this again tonight.
DSE 5 #11 May 20, 2009 8C doesn't have any HDV issues, and the issues present in 8a and 8b are relevant to specific cameras.
idrankwhat 0 #12 May 20, 2009 Quote8C doesn't have any HDV issues, and the issues present in 8a and 8b are relevant to specific cameras. Thanks, that's good to know. I didn't want to beat my head looking for a "PEBKAC" or "PEBCAC" (in this case) problem when it resided in the software. I guess that means it's a setting issue but I can't for the life of me figure out why it it would only work half way. I'll give it another go this evening. If I have any more headbanging I'll try to be more specific when I throw out the call for help. Thanks again.
