Bill_K 0 #1 January 4, 2009 Hey guys/gals, was sitting in a store a little while ago waiting on something and happened to pick up a Shutter Bug magazine and very much enjoyed poking through it. So it got me to wondering what (if anything) you other guys/gals; that really enjoy this side of the sport, read? I'm fairly new to this side and wanting to learn as much as I can. I know that magazines like shutter bug won't help with the skydiving side, but some of the other general picture taking stuff looked very helpful. To me anyway. Thanks, BK PS. Before somebody says something about the search function, it's broken right now.

PharmerPhil 0 #4 January 5, 2009 Popular Photography is a good one to start with. For composition ideas and examples of good photography (but no "how to") look critically at the major news and sports mags like Time, Sports Illustrated, and National Geographic. Their photographers usually don't suck...

I think learning photography overall is vital for learning any specific photography like skydiving photography. I personally dont read much traditional photography magazines. I do read some internet forums regularly and I like to talk/learn about photography from some of my friends who do it professionally. Nowadays I find my self "analyzing" all kind of photos I may encounter; advertisments on the street, journalistic photos on the newspapers, etc etc. I try to think how this photo was created and what are negative and positive things about it. IMO it does drive you forwards with your own work too..
