HC96 video cam for still shots too?

i am thinking about trying to use my hc96 for stills and video.i have a cameye2 that plugs into the lanc jack.is there a half moon bite switch available that could enable you to take stills while videoing?

No, in video mode the stills will only take screen captures.

Why would you want to? the optics are pretty poor for stills. For giggles, you might like em, for a website you might like them, but for anything printable, they'd not be useful.

At our DZ we offer handicam video and stills, i use a HC96 at presen't. We alos offer ouside video and stills with proper cameras.

The frame grabs are not really that accepetable but OK for punters to put straight on facebbok etc.

HC96 is old hat now, there are plenty of cheap cameras that can produce 'OK' frame grabs, much better than an hc96 anyway.

HC5 is already somewhat better (HDV framegrabs) but not very good quality. I mail the passengers a couple of framegraps as bonus when they buy the handcam

Well I did a rookie mistake on a tandem (unpaid practice) with my still camera.... battery on my XT died in freefall! I checked in in the plane and it was fine but it turned out to be a bad bat (trashed it later). When I got to the ground and found out what happened I was pissed (got most of the way through freefall though). I wanted to get a still of the couple that jumped for their anniversary so after the tandem landed and post interview complete for video footage, i stopped recording and snapped some shots with my HC90. Worked out pretty good.
