turtlespeed 220 #1 June 23, 2003 I'm too lazy to go and search for any previous posts about this... I did a clear and pull to lurk some crew. We exited @ 14500. My protrack registered the jump as 10500 with deployment @ 10400. The setting was on "slo". The SAS was on. Why 10-5 and not 14-5? Was it because it was in the pocket on my rig(Inside the harness strap)? Should I get it checked? Oh yeah, I could be wrong, but the first warning seemed to come somewhere around 7000 ft...but it could have been lower.I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun
quade 4 #2 June 23, 2003 When did you turn it on? Shortly after takeoff at 1000 AGL, did you hear the beeps indicating that the ProTrack was operating normally?quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
SkydiveMonkey 0 #3 June 23, 2003 How long a delay did you do? Pro track normally needs 7 seconds to log a jump. Did you do any radical spirals etc?____________________ Say no to subliminal messages
turtlespeed 220 #4 June 23, 2003 As for when I turned it on, it was on auto. And yes even over the prop noise and the door being open I could hear the 1000 ft. beeps. I deployed sub terminal - The jump was logged - It was just logged incorrectly. None of the jumps this weekend were lower than 13.5I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun
PhillyKev 0 #5 June 23, 2003 Quote deployed sub terminal - The jump was logged - It was just logged incorrectly. That'll happen with sub term deployments. I did a bunch of hop-n-pops in a row one week and had all kinds of whacky results.
betzilla 56 #6 June 23, 2003 my ProTrack doesn't even register that I made a jump when I do a clear and pull. Which is normal, from what I hear. It's when your unit acts funny on a freefall jump that you should be worried.
Yoshi 0 #7 June 23, 2003 That is yet another example of why not to totally rely on audibles or anything for that matter... keep your alti awareness and dont soley rely on something that can malfunction. -yoshi_________________________________________ this space for rent. skydive84 0 #8 June 24, 2003 If i do a high hop + pop the jump usually registers + i hear the beeps at the right altitudes on the way down. It just gets confused at what altitude stuff happens at. Its a freefall computer. You need to be freefalling for it to work properly! Adi
vt1977 0 #9 June 24, 2003 I might be wrong on this, but my understanding is that the Pro Track does not log a jump unless you delay for 5 seconds or longer – this could explain some of the strange readings for hop and pops. Vicki
AggieDave 6 #10 June 24, 2003 Meh, it happens, it happens on hop-n-pops too. Just remember in your head what really happened and adjust your FF time accordingly (and your paper log book).--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." PurpleBadger 0 #12 June 25, 2003 I used to get this problem on most hop'n'pop's, but then i figured that it wanted a delay so that's what I now give it and it records ok... if i'm going to be getting out so low that I can't afford to give it a slight delay out the door then i'd probably give it a second thought as to wether i really wanted to get out
