DSE 5 #1 February 3, 2009 A heads up for those attending PIA- I'll have a Sony CX100, an MC1, and a few other sundry cams in our booth at the show. They will not be on display, you'll need to ask about them if you'd like to see them. Looking forward to seeing y'all there!

Seriously, is this a newer version of how they used to refer to PAL cameras with the 'e' suffix?Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live
pattersd 0 #7 February 3, 2009 If you came in from jumping more often, you might have noticed that last years model the CX7 was called a CX6 in other parts of the world.

cpoxon 0 #9 February 3, 2009 I wish! I live in England and it's winter I'm still Standard Def and tape based, so the nuances of HD and solid state have passed me by but I'm looking at catching up with the CX100/5. Thanks for filling me in (and Jarno). So, why the difference of 5 in the 100/5 but only 1 in 6/7 and 11/12? DSE 5 #10 February 3, 2009 I'd bet the difference lies in trying to separate numbers from one brand to another. Canon, Panasonic, JVC are all similar model numbers, so they went somewhere no one else has really gone. That's a hazarded guess. I don't know the exact answer. But...there has been a LOT of market confusion over these damn model numbers being the same/similar. The worst is the Canon HXA1 and the Sony HVRA1 But the panasonic SD5/7/9 didn't help with the Sony HC 5/7/9. At least Sony now has different colors. so add a "B" or "R" or "P" after the model number for color.
