Teigen 0 #1 April 9, 2009 New Sony HDR-TG5V Does anyone know if this version will be compatible with the Cookie box? Its got 16 friggin gigs of internal memory!
pbwing 0 #2 April 9, 2009 Looks nice, but still no threads for lens attachments. Also, the GPS feature is neat, but since there is no GPS metadata standard in AVCHD, it makes that feature a bit less of a sell (for me at least)...
Teigen 0 #3 April 9, 2009 Hear ya! im still tilting towards the Tg1, but it would be nice with some reviews if someone takes it up!
dragon2 2 #4 April 9, 2009 Can't see why any skydiver would buy a TG-series camera now that the CX100/105 is out... ciel bleu, Saskia
Teigen 0 #5 April 9, 2009 Do you have the 105? What is its advantages besides from the larger internal memory and the fact that doesnt lack the threads for lenses.. I might change my mind. The reason i wanted the Tg3 was because of its size. But i guess the 105 isnt really that much bigger..
dragon2 2 #6 April 9, 2009 I have the CX105 yes. It's so damn small, I was going to sell my helmet with sidemount for PC106/107/109 but the CX105 fits in it The TG series are not real Sony cameras (not Sony parts inside it seems), they lack the thread and they are sidemount only, the CX105 scores better on all those points plus usually is cheaper (esp. if you do not have to buy the cookie box) and is smaller. Edit: don't know if the TG series has a remote, the CX105 does not and that's a pain if you debrief using the camera (but half the people i know debrief from a laptop or dvd anyway so in that case, no problem) or for tandem videos if you edit linear. ciel bleu, Saskia
Teigen 0 #7 April 9, 2009 Thanks! i checked with my local dealers and it seems the CX105 is cheaper.. Not much but yea.. Im liking the 105 more and more! BTW: do you have any HD footage online shot with it?
bomb420 1 #8 April 10, 2009 Check the cx100/cx105 posting. I have some footage under youtube.com/trunk420 but I did not post it a high enough bit rate. There are some comments of the TG5 on this post its time to geotag your HD videos -TrunkHYPOXIC
