getting files from my cx100 to sony vegas

Recommended Posts

I sent DSE a PM but I thought others might have the same question or answer.

I just bought a cx100 and Im trying to import the video files from the internal memory to sony vegas. Im not having any luck and I can figure out what Im doing wrong.. There Short files.
I tried to

click on project
click on import avchd camcorder
a box comes up that says import from avchd camcorder source (f) the cx100 is connected
I click on ok
a box comes up that says an error occurred while opening one or more files. The file is most like corrupted or of an unknown format.

WTF am I doing wrong?? thanks for your help

I am using the full version of sony vegas movie studio platinum 9 it's registered not the trial verison.

Have you tried copying the files to your desktop and importing from there?
This might narrow down the problem area. It could a number of things, i.e.
-Usb connection
-On board memory
-Software install
-PICNIC
The list goes on, start by narrowing down the possibilities, that's what i always do.
You mean i don't gotta wear the stoopid helmet?..

i have the same problem with the tg1 avchd files and sony vegas

instad of importing avchd camcorder
click - import media
then select the files from the folder in the windows menu ..

might pay to find the folder in explorer before you attempt this .. from memory i think files are kept in the stream folder

you can:
import from camera direct to timeline
import from memstick in card reader direct to timeline
import from files copied to local HDD
import from files copied to databank device.

Lofty, yesterday I copied that file from your card directly to my desktop using Windows Explorer (thank you for that, BTW, it's a great example of how to NOT land in an area known for rotors), and then later imported that file to a Vegas timeline for output to the web.
IMO, the fastest means of working for Vegas is to copy the STREAM folder from the AVCHD folder, straight to a local/external HDD. It's VERY fast.
If you're shooting SD video to the AVCHD camcorder, you'll find the media in the MPEG folder. Same thing; very fast copy.
If you're not using Vegas, I recommend you _always_ copy the entire card menu structure over to your HDD. Some NLE's wanna see it all. Vegas doesn't care, because it ignores the header data and the metadata such as geotagging, etc.
