My first vid of a 2way.

Hey Mike!
Nice jump for a first!
Exit could have been just a tad earlier to better catch them out of the plane.
Distance could be made smaller, with a .3 lens it puts em' pretty far away anyway.
You could have gotten down to them a bit more, but that comes with a little practice and watching your own vids, getting familiar with your gear.
Was good seeing you look around at breakoff, seeing you checking for traffic on all sides after deployment.

All in all, a few more jumps, watch your own vid to learn...you'll be driving in there in no time!

Thanks Spot.:)
If you'll notice those 2 really didn't give much of a count so the exit was a bit off (notice I about got kicked in the head). A .42 lense is all I have so that what I was working with on that one. I thought that "as far away from each other as they are I need to be back a little to get both of them". Hopefully my skills will increace and you can keep giving me good feedback to better myself.:)

With a little practice, you'll become familiar with no-count exits, watching hips instead of heads/lips, etc. Takes time. You should see my first jump with wings. :D I'm glad I wasn't wearing a camera helmet.
BTW, good on ya for waiting!

I would also recommend that you develop a library of royalty free music tracks that you can legally sync to your videos in the future. While it's nice that you credited Royal Bliss for the music, it's still not a legal use. My guess is that the band or their label might be particularly sensitive based on the fact that they even limit the length of the tracks on Napster to 30 seconds;)

Thanks. I didn't really know how that worked. I thought if I purchased the cd and gave them credit then it was ok.

Yup ... that's a very common misconception.

How does one come up with a royalty free music list? I just want to make sure I do it the right way in the future.

CLICKY Jamendo.com is my favorite. If I made that link correctly, it is the result of a search for music that you are free to sync to your video's and sell. For video's that you are not going to sell, the selection is much larger because all you need is the license to sync the music and freely distribute it. Jamendo uses Creative Commons licensing; you can read about it on the Creative Commons site.

There are many other sources too. Just search this forum for royalty free music. It's been discussed at length here.

Ive been looking through some royalty free stuff and I seem to be having trouble finding popular bands and songs.

Very few "popular" bands offer royalty free tracks. That doesn't mean the you can't find great stuff. You just have to spend some time sampling. It's out there. Of course, it will be a matter of your own taste in music. Remember, it's not about the music in the end; if people don't like the music you use, they can just turn the volume down and play whatever music they prefer as they watch your video. Concentrate on the video part of it ... you need to learn how to fly, shoot, and edit the visual. In the end, your video should be good enough that it doesn't matter what music you put it to.;)

I would hope from a CYA aspect that they have permission, otherwise they're making money utilizing other peoples work and I seriously doubt thats what's happening. But, who knows? I could be wrong.

You're most probably wrong making that assumption. If they are using popular music tracks, the chances are very good that they are doing just that - making money utilizing other people's work without permission. They get away with it because they basically have a low profile. :P

Not all dropzones do use mainstream music... and I have stopped using it when I make videos as well... for year end stuff I'll generally create my own music using Sony ACID Music Studio...

For distributing weekend jumps I use Cinescore in conjunction with Sony Vegas Movie Studio 9 Pt.

I'm suprised - assuming that your info is correct - that no one has jumped down your throat for jumping camera with less than 200 jumps.:o Come on guys, you're slipping;)

2 wrongs don't make a right - but 3 lefts do.
