poohbeer 0 #1 June 30, 2003 Did 6 AFF jumps a month ago. End august I will be going to france to finish my AFF. Now I was thinking about slowly starting to buy my own gear already and was thinking of following goggles altimeter helmet audible altimeter (to be set a bit below prefered altitude as to not rely on it) Now where can a Belgian bloke buy all this stuff and what would you experts advise? 20$ goggles i think will do fine for starters but what brand/type altimeter and audible? What kind of helmet would be prefered? ------- SIGNATURE BELOW ------- Complete newbie at skydiving, so be critical about what I say!! payback462 0 #2 June 30, 2003 BEER!!! definetaly get an alti with a replaceable lens like the galaxy, and as far as audibles go, its probabaly a good idea to wait until you have good altitude awareness before you start using one. for helmets i reccomend the new bonehead mindwarp, or the new Z-1 EVO
andy2 0 #3 June 30, 2003 if you get a full face you dont have to worry about goggles! And you get the added protection in case you dont want to get kicked in the face. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm... As for tyhe no audible to create awareness: isn't setting it just a tad below to desired altitude a sollution to this while keeping the added safety? This way when you here it you've fucked up already but still plenty of time to deploy and whatever. ------- SIGNATURE BELOW ------- Complete newbie at skydiving, so be critical about what I say!! dragon2 2 #5 June 30, 2003 Don't know about shops in Belgium, but in Holland you can for instance go to The Parachute Case (Teuge, Apeldoorn) or Caroline Suits (Rotterdam). For international shopping, look around on the internet! There's a whole bunch (Square1, Paragear, ....) but keep in mind the added costs (credit card charges, shipping, taxes and duties). In Holland add 24% to the total billing amount (including shipping). Don't know for Belgium. ciel bleu, Saskia
dragon2 2 #6 June 30, 2003 Also, you may not be allowed to jump a fullface helmet yet, or an audible. Same goes for colored goggles. Depends on the DZ/instructor. Ask! ciel bleu, Saskia
