new camera helmet setup

Recommended Posts

hello: looking for any advice that people may have regarding setting up my first camera helmet. been asking friends at the dz and reading through the forums but i'm looking for some specific advice. I am primarily planning on doing tandem video and possibly some team stuff. Already bought a cx100, and am thinking about buying a cannon g10 with a rawa helmet. should i get the Rawa box or a aftermarket one and mount it myself? It sounds like there is no room for the D plug of the cameye light/switch to be contained inside the rawa box? any advice regarding any of this gear would be appreciated especially which helmets, mounts, eyesights etc people like or recommend avoiding.
thank you

If you already have a Rawa helmet, you'll need the Rawa CX100 side-mount box to mount to the side. Rawa side-mount boxes match the slight curve to the side of Rawa's helmets. Most other camera boxes have a flat side and don't work well with Rawa helmets.

The box comes with a pre-drilled hole for the HypEye D Pro mounting, whiich you will have to also drill into the Rawa helmet is putting this together yourself. Half of the plug fits in the box, the other half in the padding inside the helmet.

Personally we're selling about half and half of Cookie and Rawa helmets for the CX100 camera setups, and then many of the boxes only for FlatTopPros, Vapors and NVertigo-Vs. Just depends on your helmet preference...and how much you want to mount...and which helmet fits your head size/shape best.
