dragon2 2 #1 September 2, 2009 So last weekend we had the yearly Bussloo swoop comp. I always film these, used to with a VX2100, A1, last year a HC5. So this year, my HC5 was gate-cam as I brought the box+quickrelease for that. I was filming with my CX105 (as was another Danish jumper), standing out in the water as usual. Crap, what was I thinking. No #$%^ viewfinder on the CX105! Sun on the water and sometimes even the wind making it difficult for me to keep the camera steady and the jumper where I want him in the screen, having to hold the camera away from my body and with open screen. Now one swoopcomp a year might be a small reason to hang onto my HC5, but I'm considering it Video here. ciel bleu, Saskia
DSE 5 #2 September 3, 2009 Your video is in a problem codec so I can't see it. Lemme get this straight; you're blaming the camera because you couldn't use the display as a framing preview? Or blaming the cam because you can't hold your hands steady? Beanbags, micropods, or pistol grips work really well for this sort of thing if that's the case. dragon2 2 #3 September 3, 2009 I shoot without a tripod or anything else, handheld. So now I have to open the screen and use that, instead of the viewfinder, which is harder because of the sun glare, and because the camera is further away from my body. I found it hard this way to get the same steady footage I'm used getting over the years, especially with the camera zoomed in all the way but also with panning. ciel bleu, Saskia
DSE 5 #4 September 3, 2009 Hoodman and Hood Pro both make great LCD shades or you can make your own....I never shoot outdoors without one, even when using eyepiece. Well worth it. Anchor elbows into your stomach like legs of a tripod. Zoomed in all the way and panning will NEVER result in a smooth shot in small sensor camcorders when handheld. Just can't happen. Even on a cheap tripod, it won't work. You need heavy sticks. And/or a Teledapter lens.
