Vegas issue

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys.

I've just installed Vegas movie studio platinum pro pack and i've got a problem that i cant solve.

When i try to create a new project into ANY folder on my C: drive it comes up with the error message "Read only or invalid path. Please correct it".
However if i create a project using an external drive it works fine.
Is this a feature of Vegas that you need 2 HDD's?

Also is there anyway you can burn a DVD without having to use DVD Architect?

Thanks

you can burn a data dvd without architect, but if you want a menu/VOB dvd, you must use an authoring tool such as Encore, Architect, etc.

Sounds like some admin controls are on your boot drive (and it's ALWAYS ALWAYS a bad idea to use the boot drive for any video (and really for anything but your OS and applications).
Vegas doesn't set controls, it only obeys them, so...
Also, are you running antivirus? Generally, its a good idea to kill any antivirus running in the background while rendering/editing video.

Cheers for that DSE.

I will check the admin settings tonight( or just use an external drive)

Its a bit anoying about the DVD authoring though.
I'm so use to premier elements creating an auto run DVD automatically ( the idea was i could pack whilst rendering and burning was happening).

I was also looking at your "Tandems made easy" DVD, do you have a PAL one for the UK? or will the NTSC one work fine here? Plus how much easier/faster will it be to do everything

Thanks

Rob

I just realized you're using VMS, not Vegas Pro...Yes, you can burn an authored DVD from the timeline, sorry.
Use the Make Movie icon.

How do I do that? When I've clicked the Make movie icon it lets me select DVD, however once its rendered it wants me to export it to DVD Architect or it gives me a "finish" option which sends me back to the project. Am I missing something??
I have the Platinum Pro version btw.

Just out of curiosity, is VMS installed on an external drive or is it on the C drive? If the former, I think you'll have problems even if you get the paths figured out.

I've got VMS installed on my C: drive
