jdatc 0 #1 October 7, 2009 Hello All- I was editing together a video for the Bridge Day video fest using sony Vegas Movie Studio 8... The problem is I have a majority of footage shot in HD widescreen on my Cx7 / Cx100 and a small amount shot on my pc1000 as old 4:3 aspect ratio. I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to merge the two without it looking too crappy... Is it worth zooming the footage, changing aspect ratios, etc..... I could make the whole movie 4:3, but better than 80% of my footage is shot in HD and I have some great moments I'd like to include that aren't HD. Any help is appreciated- _justin
DSE 5 #2 October 7, 2009 edit in a 1920x1080 timeline. The 4:3 can be cropped to fit, or you can underlay it with a 1920 x 1080 graphic to fill the screen. See my vimeo channel to see how this was done for the USPA AFF footage (all shot 4:3 Easy as pie. If'n you got Vegas Pro, Production Assistant or Ultimate S can do this for you automatically. mccordia 74 #4 October 8, 2009 If its creative you're going for.. A nice thing, is to scale/stretch a copy of your 4:3 video to 16:9, and slightly darken/blur it. And than have your 4:3 video on top of that. Just so its not black bars on the side, but something slighlty coloured, thats not detracting from the video in the center.. http://www.flylikebrick.com/playmovie_flv.php?id=49JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? DSE 5 #5 October 9, 2009 jup. Works very well to place a blurred and darkened copy that is stretched. Be sure it's not distracting. Attached are two scenes set up by Ultimate S, but it can be done manually in just a few seconds.
