spootch 0 #1 October 29, 2009 So I have Adobe premier elements 7 loaded into my PC (vista). I have used the program several times with no problems. However last time i went to do some editing with it it asked where the file "blablabla" is. So I take the program by the hand and show it where the file is (yes it is stored on my external drive). As soon as i click the file it responds that it needs a "codec" to make it work. WTF? it worked before, where the hell did it go? How do I find out what codec is missing? Or should I just use a bigger hammer?
DSE 5 #2 October 29, 2009 Use Gspot to find out what the codec is. You can download it after a quick google search. you'll then need to install that codec. An update of Premiere might be all you need to do as well..
pilotdave 0 #3 October 29, 2009 Your advice is to google "Gspot?" I'm sure that'll keep him occupied but I doubt it'll answer his question! Dave

DSE 5 #5 October 29, 2009 I wondered if anyone would pick up on that. Googling "Gspot, video" turns up some fun results. Googling "GSpot, video, codec" is a bit more bland.

antonija 0 #7 October 29, 2009 Actually googling "gspot" returns suggested software in first hit. http://www.google.com/search?source=ig&hl=en&q=gspot Seems google is getting smarter...I understand the need for conformity. Without a concise set of rules to follow we would probably all have to resort to common sense. -David Thorne
