Emmie 0 #1 February 19, 2010 I just found out I can't use my helmet in the tunnel if it has the mount on it, so I need to get it off of there asap. Does anyone have any experience/advice with taking it off? It seems it's on there pretty securely. I thought about taking a screwdriver to it, but I also don't want to destroy the helmet in the process.
Psychonaut 0 #2 February 19, 2010 Possibly borrow a helmet from someone? Is that an option?Stay high pull low
Emmie 0 #3 February 19, 2010 Yes, of course, or just use the tunnel's protecs, but I do lots of tunnel flying, and our skydiving season doesn't start for the next so I wanted to be able to use my fullface for the time being while looking for a secondary helmet. I guess the good thing is that this mount is so firmly attached to my helmet, that unless the plastic casing breaks, I will never loose my camera! howardwhite 6 #4 February 19, 2010 Loan it to someone who gets hit by somebody trying to dock on a 10-way. That gets it off real quick. (Astoundingly, the camera was found in the desert at Eloy, but it doesn't work.) HW
willh 0 #5 February 20, 2010 I was able to reuse a mount by using steam to get it off. I had a shark steamer which put out high pressure steam and it came off easy and the nice thing was that after it dried I remounted it in a different spot with no worries of it breaking loose.... Emmie 0 #6 February 20, 2010 Oooh, perfect! Any ideas of places that would have high pressure steamers? I don't really know what one is...or where to find them
Psychonaut 0 #7 February 20, 2010 Try a local cleaners. For some reason 'cleaners' doesn't sound like the right word, I'm having a brain fart. The place you take your clothes to get pressed and such.... DRY cleaners that's itStay high pull low
Emmie 0 #8 February 21, 2010 Will, you're a genius! I used steam from a tea kettle to get the mount off. Took less than 5 minutes, thanks!!!
