Harmless 0 #2 May 11, 2010 I've been keeping an eye on all the EVIL format camera... but with sony's PR and then this teaser http://www.engadget.com/2010/05/11/sony-teases-high-end-camcorder-with-exmore-apc-hd-sensor-and-int/ Makes things interesting "Damn you Gravity, you win again"
PhreeZone 20 #3 May 11, 2010 Canon had that for a long time with the LX2 series of cameras and it was successful but they went back to the fixed lenses for their cameras. I hope DSE can help explain why since I never understood that. I would love to put my L glass to use on video too...Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
leslieb 0 #4 May 20, 2010 Ooh! I'm totally obsessed with this camera and I'm ready to preorder! I've never flown stills because of the weight issue, so I need a little guidance on which model would be best. The 3 or 5? Would the 16 or 18-55 mm be the best choice? Looks like you can put any alpha lens on it, and there IS a wide angle and fisheye option as well. Which one is recommended for freefall shots?
nigelh 0 #5 May 20, 2010 At launch there isn't a remote cable shutter release, but the NEX-5 does have infrared remote (Not much use, but shows that the circuity/programming for a shutter is there) Maybe there's a way of making a USB release for it?-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ Sponored by NZ Aerosports, CYPRES 2, Tonfly & L&B Team Dirty Sanchez #
ultimateswitch 0 #6 May 20, 2010 Hello, It seems that this new Sony camera don't have a wired remote port or remote USB release config. For my, the best choice for filming is the NEX-5 with a Sony E 16/2.8 lens kit, light and smaller. For shooting (without wire remote) is NEX-5 with the Sony E 18-55/3.5-5.6 lens. leslieb 0 #7 May 28, 2010 So it looks like one of the other tiny dslr models, the Samsung nx-10 offers and optional wired remote. Maybe this could be an alternative? Also, the sony nex offers a 'smart accessory terminal'. The only thing I can find on this is that you can put a flash in it- but with a name like 'smart accessory terminal' one would think you could adapt more than just a flash?
