Dokeman 0 #1 July 28, 2010 Has anyone used a royal .2 30mm lens or the opteka .3 37mm with a step down ring on a cx150? Seeing as the 150 is a little wider than the 100, just wanted to make sure there was no vignette. I tried my 37mm royal .2 with a step down ring, but the the vignette was terrible. This is for use with my handycam.
DSE 5 #2 July 28, 2010 a forum search would answer this several times over, but... the Royal .2 is gonna vignette on any small cam that has a focal length of greater than 42mm (which the CX150 does). Not to mention it's a low resolution lens
Fast 0 #3 July 28, 2010 Part of that question should be "Do I want a lense that shoots in HD or not", cause as far as I can tell, the royals don't look nearly as nice as the newer HD stuff. The Opteka 37mm .3 doesn't vignette on screen on a cx100 but you can see a little bit of it on the computer. Also, I pretty much zoom mine in a little bit anyways so I don't see my goggles/nose.~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. Dokeman 0 #4 July 28, 2010 then what is the optimal lens for the cx150 for handycam use if the royal and cookie vignette?
guscabana 0 #5 July 28, 2010 I test my CX150 with several lenses around the dz and find out something interesting: Almost all lenses vignettes on this camera. I tried Opteka and Century 0.3 (with the hood on, without is fine), a Royal 0.3 (30mm without step ring), an Opteka 0,43. The Raynox O.3 is fine. The really good news is now the Century 0.55 is perfect, is much wider than before (with the CX100). Almost as wide as the 16mm in my Nikon (no full frame), is like a 19mm (in a 35mm camera). I think is a perfect combination of size and quality. I know the Raynox 0.3 is good but the size is ridiculous with this camera. Im afraid we gonna start to see vignetting again on videos...(unless everybody remember they can use the zoom button ) For hand cam use is gonna be a problem, no small fish eye lens available...anyway F..k the hand cams!!! mnskydiver688 0 #8 July 30, 2010 Look at your camera angle. Now look at me. Now back at your camera angle. Now back at me. Sadly you camera angle isn't me, but if you started using outside video yours could look like me. Now look down. Now look up. Where are you? On a tandem video with the camera angle your camera angle could look like.Sky Canyon Wingsuiters
