Sony Alpha NEX Series

Ive used the NEX for video for a while now. But I just started using it for freefall stills as well, as Sony released a timelapse app (for the Sony NEX 5R and up) that works like magic.

Ive installed it on my NEX and it essentially turns it into a GoPro like stills camera.
Hit the shutter before exit, and at set intervals, it takes photos with the settings of your choice. Anything from 1 second and up.

Illiminates the need for a biteswitch, but of course does create the need to sort through a load of stills after landing.

A USB remote shutter release is available for the NEX-3N.
It might be nice to hack the switch there, as oppose to hacking the camera itself. Or maybe a future hypeye can be built to use this USB port.

Right now it is only compatible with the NEX-3N, but it gives hope that future NEX models will follow. The NEX-3N is a nice camera, but lacks the faster phase detection autofocus of the NEX-5R.

yes, the 5r is the Nex to get, the autofocus is better than in the 5 and the 5n, and getting good results using manual focus is hard. I also have the Nex6 and the electronic viewfinder is awesome! the future is here, no more slr's for most uses...
