chaddonnel 0 #1 July 14, 2003 I was talking to a friend of my who jumps a 120 stilletto. It has about 600 jumps on it. He said about every other jump it opens with the right end cell closed, which puts him in a spin until he can unstow the brakes and pull down the toggles. He said it has been doing that for the last 100 jumps. My best guess was he should try a new line set. But it was just a guess. Anyone have a better idea??? davelepka 4 #2 July 14, 2003 A re-line should solve the trouble. I'm surprised that A) the closed end cell would cause a turn, and B) a tug on the rear risers (brakes stowed) wouldn't inflate the cell. My 107 had opened this way a couple times, and there was no turn, and the rear riser trick worked fine. Does the canopy fly straight otherwise?
andy2 0 #3 July 14, 2003 question about end cell closure, when you get both end cells closed on opening that means that your opening will be significantly softer? Or is it that noticeable? --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
AggieDave 6 #4 July 14, 2003 It doesn't necissarily mean you'll have a softer opening, but on nice soft openings closed endcells often result.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
NeedToJump 0 #5 July 15, 2003 I jump a Stiletto 135 which I bought used. When I first got it it would generally open off heading (always to the left) and probably 7/10 times would have a gradual spin to the left which I could counter by shifting my weight or unstowing the brakes. The top of the canopy would also noticeably distort a little when hooking it in with the front risers. I sent it in to get relined and when I got it back all of those problems were gone and now it flies great! My guess is that a reline will fix his problems too. Either way it couldn't hurt.Wind Tunnel and Skydiving Coach http://www.ariperelman.com
