jtiflyer 0 #1 December 30, 2010 So I am considering switching to a Sony NEX5, I read somewhere that the port can be hacked to take a switch. Is this info correct or is the IR to 2.5 my only option? Thanks Jason

Somebody mentioned harbortronics but I don't see anything on there website,
JayR 0 #4 January 4, 2011 From what I have been able to research there is no usb hack, it would be so much simpler if there was, the mod for the sony nex isnt an ir mod but rather a wired mod to the shutter circuitry itself, i have done a few of these for various camera flyers and havnt had any complaints, harbortronics did a camera for a friend of mine and since has declined to do any further mods. hope this info is helpful

JayR 0 #6 January 4, 2011 The ir remote mod is possible but results are variable in performance and from a few Sony forums not all the cameras functions work via ir remote, hence why I and others have opted to just hard wire a 2.5 mm port
