Opteka 0.3x, do I really need the Lens hood on?

Hey all, the title sums my question up pretty much completely. i bought an Opteka 0.3x to take me wider than my faithful way cool 0.45 and it is without doubt a beautiful lens, and I cant wait to pair it up with a CX, due in about 3 weeks, but I cant help thinking that the lens hood does nothing in the environment that we sky-jumpers employ our camcorders

Thoughts??

It'll stop a bit of light from the side, but mainly I use mine as a bumper... Can't hurt to leave it on so why remove it...

I leave mine on as protection pretty much.

A friend will bail you out of jail , a REAL friend will be sitting next to you in the cell slapping your hand saying "DUDE THAT WAS AWSUM " ................

dude definatly keep the hood on it, mine is scraped up like hell, but the lense is not damaged at all, i couldnt imagine what my lense would look like if i never used the hood. itd be bad!

Mine is on as well and i have not scratched it yet. You don't have to though,it's your choice.

I lost the little screw thingies when moving the hood around... haven't used it since. Used the lens for video/base/and on the ground. It's still in good shape.

There is an art, or rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning to throw yourself at the ground and miss. Pick a nice day and try it.
