quade 4 #4 July 17, 2003 There was a product that had been made specifically for canopies, but I can't seem to recall its web address. If I was really worried about constantly losing mains (maybe doing a LOT of CRW) I might consider something a bit more sophisticated and powerful than what I recall seeing on that site. Something more along the lines of THIS.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

bunge 0 #9 July 17, 2003 agree, but flying overhead in a cessna will at least give you the general area before putting on the swamp gear to fend off the ticks.... BUNGE I don't hate them, I just like us better.

Clownburner 0 #11 July 17, 2003 It's a nice idea, but the systems cost more than the parachute! It would suck to lose both of them to swamp mud or something. 7CP#1 | BTR#2 | Payaso en fuego Rodriguez "I want hot chicks in my boobies!"- McBeth
ArmyMedic 0 #12 June 15, 2007 Most of these links are down- does anyone have any more current information? I hate to loose another canopy and it seems like the technology has advanced considerably in the last few years."This is better than sex, and cheaper too!" flyng_circus 0 #13 June 15, 2007 Wow, someone actually used the search function! Kudos. www.paratelemetry.com is the most recent one I am familiar with, but be wary that most dropzones dont have a radio. Definately a neat idea but I am not sure that I know anyone using a system such as this.

ArmyMedic 0 #15 July 20, 2007 Quoteits called a ground crew!! We always have a ground crew but we jump at a lot of non-established DZ's for training so we used a bunch of unfamiliar areas. The days in question winds at 1000ft were around 20kts (10-15 on the ground) and the canopies drifted over a mile from 2000ft. All the GC in the world cannot accuratly track a canopy that far, especially considering they drifted over a residential area..."This is better than sex, and cheaper too!"
