Remster 30 #4 November 11, 2011 QuoteProjected price? Actual price, actually. It's out. 499 for capacity of 750 pics, or 399 for 350 pics (I don't know the "size" of each pic, and I dont know if even knowing that it would translate as the same as a regular photo) Interesting form factor too. Not sure it's very practical, but interesting. https://www.lytro.com/cameraRemster
LouDiamond 1 #5 December 20, 2011 I think it actually could be used quite creatively in skydiving. Take a look at the picture gallery where you can shift the focus on the pictures to change the DOF. Not for everyone but it does offer some unique features. https://www.lytro.com/living-pictures/1690"It's just skydiving..additional drama is not required" Some people dream about flying, I live my dream SKYMONKEY PUBLISHING
DSE 5 #6 December 20, 2011 The images aren't significantly larger due to the wavelet technology. the problem is playing/displaying the images, because it's a proprietary format. They can be stored as .jpeg, but then the interactive/user-selected focus goes away. The compression isn't great, and the motionography aspect isn't great for skydiving. Once CES is over, I'll share some pix on a page (difficult to share on DZ.com due to format/decoder) It's the beginning of some really sweet technologies, IMO. The tech has been licensed to some bigger companies and we'll see something really cool in a few weeks at CES.
