btvr 0 #1 July 7, 2011 Does anyone use the countor HD box made by 2k composites? Looking for the best option for mounting on a Nvertigo-X helmet. Seems like the least snag prone option. The box seems like it could be good for a side mount to resist riser slap but I don't know. Need advice from you experts out there. I still have a few jumps before I'm ready to fly with a camra though. Just trying to find the best and safest mount.
deeleyer 0 #2 July 7, 2011 I have one top mounted on my rawa so I have not experience on riser slap. But it's made of metal (seems like some kind of hard alu) so I think it could manage riser slaps with no trouble.
CarloC 0 #3 July 7, 2011 Check this out,i think top mount is the way to go... http://www.square1.com/manufacturers/square1/p522.asp#ContourVerticalMount
btvr 0 #4 July 7, 2011 How do you like it? Does it fit well? Also I have seen the square 1 mount and that is also an option. I do prefer a lower profile mount for the top. Thats one reason I got the contour since the lense rotates. The horizontal mount from square 1 looks nice too but I'm not sure if it will "fit" nicely on the nverigo-x top flat spot. CarloC 0 #5 July 7, 2011 I dont have one, i use a cx110 top mounted on the same helmet you have. I think top mount its safer regarding Riser slaps and those mounts look really good and low profile. The horizontal one will fit on the flat top of your helmet and it will still have some room left. If you are not secure about it, send them a email and ask the dimensions of the mount and compare it with your helmet. Blue ones!
btvr 0 #6 July 7, 2011 Thanks, I will do that. wiah there was a place close to actually go in and physically look at it
btvr 0 #7 July 8, 2011 Heard from Square 1. The Nvertigo-X top flat spot is too small for the pre drilled holes on the horizontal mount. Guess the vertical mount or the box are my only real options now.. Back to the drawing board..Ha
horny955 0 #8 July 9, 2011 Why have a vertical mount when you can have the 2kc contour box layed flat and by turning the lense 90 degrees you get the same shot. The vertical one top mounted is going to take a real pounding when you forget its there and bash it on the doorway!
btvr 0 #9 July 10, 2011 You are right. I think I'm going to go with the 2K composit box.
horny955 0 #10 July 10, 2011 As far as i know the camera is fitted using a universal mount which contour sell, this is locked in place by a thumbscrew.
deeleyer 0 #11 July 12, 2011 Yes, it's locked in place by a thumbscrew. Here are some pics about that. The box can be bolted directly on the helmet, I had this way before getting a zkulls and it worked great.
btvr 0 #12 July 13, 2011 Thanks for posting the pics!! Do screws come with the box for mounting or do I have to buy them separately?
deeleyer 0 #13 July 13, 2011 All the screws are included with the box, at least in mine. Don't forget you'll have to buy the universal mount separately (I got mine from the same dealer that sold me the box).
