kai3fly 0 #1 July 11, 2011 Anyone seen this before? is it my lens or body failing? only on a few photos on one jump. done like 2000 jumps on lens and 1000 on body lens : tokina 10-17mm body : canon t1i ta kai
billvon 2,995 #2 July 12, 2011 Looks like the mirror not clearing in time, but I have no idea what would cause that (outside of "it's just plain broken.") Perhaps seal it up with tape (or a box, or a sleeve or whatever) and see if that fixes it?
DSE 5 #3 July 12, 2011 an airleak could cause it, but the image seems clean, so any air would be getting in from somewhere other than the mount, I'd think
DrizZ 0 #4 July 14, 2011 Kai - I'd narrow it down by swapping out your body with the same lens, and then the verse. Definitely looks like it could be either air, moisture, or dust causing the mirror to hesitate. Either one are distinct posibilities with your t1, with the lack of weather sealing that say a 7d has. especially with the humidity and conditions at Orange. linestretch 0 #5 July 16, 2011 Just curious how far the lens extends into the camera body (I'm not familiar with that lens)? The theory of the mirror hanging up sounds right to me. The -S lenses made for canon cameras extend into the body and can't be used on say a 10D or 5D due to the mirror colliding. Just a random thought. I'm sure this lens is compatable but since it's an aftermarket....wonder how close the clearance is.my pics & stuff!
kai3fly 0 #6 July 17, 2011 thanks for the feedback, it only happened on that one jump of thousands i conclude it was moisture from a rain jump the previous day. the pressure to jump in rain sucks :( kai

Zlew 0 #8 July 18, 2011 Based on the conditions, I doubt this is the case... But I have seen similar effects when shooting too high of shutter speed in the studio, and the shutter basically is closing while the light is still exposing the image. Possible to do with a flash also, but doesn't look like the case here.
