frequentfaller 0 #1 October 3, 2011 How much FAA red tape would there be, to mount small Go Pro to outside of otter? pointed at door or is up to pilot and plane owner?Born ok 1st time.
pilot-one 0 #2 October 4, 2011 Ask the pilot first but we tape the mount to the strut. It works great.

PharmerPhil 0 #4 October 4, 2011 One of our Instructors just duck-taped one to the side of our Otter last month, and a couple of years ago we mounted a Panasonic HVX200 on a bracket to the strut of another Otter. We turned 6-7 loads before we could un-mount it. I'm quite sure the FAA wasn't involved... I'd not only ask the pilot, but the plane owner too (if the pilot can't speak for him/her). stratostar 5 #5 October 8, 2011 Not much of an issue, unless the FAA shows up and ramp checks your plane and they find it on there.... then you got a problem, depending on the inspectors.you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
hackish 8 #6 October 25, 2011 I looked into that sort of thing in Canada. Unofficially I was told the difference is simply in how it's attached. Tape = no problem, any sort of permanent fixture is a nono. -Michael

mccordia 74 #8 November 7, 2011 I'd estemate a good meter and a half away. His footage didnt show any tailwing near his head. But for sure always worth noting safety on wingsuit exits and low tail aircraft...JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

You may be right if your talking about horizontal distance but I tell you what, makes me wince when I watch it. He doesn't fall but looks like he jumps straight out, almost up a little compared to his peers. At the end of the day glad he is fine."Better to have a short life that is full of what you like doing, than a long life spent in a miserable way." - Alan Watts
Skwrl 56 #10 November 8, 2011 Even if he managed to avoid it by three meters, it's still a very bad idea to open one's wings until you're clear of the plane. Three days from now will be the second anniversary of the death of a good friend of mine from doing just that. The fellow in the video has his wings open in front of the tail. Clearly, wingsuiters haven't learned much in the last two years.Skwrl Productions - Wingsuit Photography Northeast Bird School - Chief Logistics Guy and Video Dork
