Avri 0 #1 October 27, 2011 Hello, I hold a 70 jumps record with license A. Does anyone know / heard / jumped by himself in a DZ that allows divers with less than 200 jumps record holding a license C, to jump with the new innovative ContourHD or GoPro ? They're so much smaller & portable than the radio attached to my Protec on my first jumps to guide me for landing approach ..... Thanks in Advance! The size of the camera matters little in regards to the primary concerns when jumping it.~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. It's not the size that matters- its how you use it :P I've seen people with 15 jumps putting gopro's on their helmets. It's a big problem and while it might be a recommendation I don't think it's a BSR. -Michael
Feeblemind 1 #7 November 5, 2011 Well just in case you didn't take the time to read DSE's Post (I hope you did) The reason we support the 200 jump minimum is so you take the time to learn how to fly both your body and your canopy. When folks put a camera on their head the tend to focus more on the footage that they are trying to get rather than their flying, this tends to get folks in trouble as listed in DSE's post. In addition, I see a lot of folks with these small cameras attached to their helmets and their helmets lack a cut away system. Even though these camera are small they are still a snag hazard. I recently saw a video of a camera flyer that had his lines snag on his camera and tried to break his neck; he had to cut away his helmet to save his life (at 70 jumps do you think you a ready to react to that emergency? he had 8000) Take your time and learn to fly, jump with folks that have 200+ jumps and ask for copies of their footage. you will learn more that way. DSE 5 #8 November 6, 2011 This thread is so over-duplicated that it's past silly. There is a sticky at the top of this forum. There is a small-camera incident list at the top of this forum. This conversation has been had at LEAST 200 times. Please read the stickies at the top of this forum??
