sporty 0 #1 July 20, 2003 Hi guys, I'm New! Well new to this forum, been jumping for 13 years.... Got a question you may be able to help with. Just got me a new Sabre2. The bridal attachment on the old canopy was just a metal ring which the bridal was threaded through. On the Sabre2 though the ring is in the middle of a 4" loop. Do I just thread the bridal around the loop and not the metal ring? Sory if this is difficult to imagine, but those with this set up will understand. Thanks in advance. BTW. My rigger will be checking it out before I jump it, but I'm just curious.....
fudd 0 #2 July 21, 2003 Difficult to imagine. Maybe a picture would help. Anyway, is it a collapsable pc? There are only 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary, and those who don't.
sporty 0 #3 July 21, 2003 Have a look here - http://www.bigandbouncy.co.uk/ring.jpg I'm waiting on a new container, so I'm using my old 'non-colapsable' PC at the moment Thanks in advance
lauril 0 #4 July 21, 2003 clicky I'm no rigger, but I think you attach the bridle trough the loop, and ignore the metal ring..At least this is how it's done on my canopy.. I've been wondering the function of the metal ring before..Anyone ? -Lauri
sporty 0 #5 July 21, 2003 Excellent, cheers lauril, thats how I've done it also. As I say I will get it checked by a rigger before I jump just to be on the safe side....
DexterBase 1 #6 July 21, 2003 Hello, rings built into the bridle attachment are usually not intended to connect the bridle to. This is especially true in the design where the ring is sewn flat into the bridle attachment. If you attach the bridle to the ring itself, then the bartacks take the entire load, instead of the bridle attachment tape. The correct way to attach your bridle is to larkshead (girth hitch) the bridle to the end of the bridle attachment tape. The metal ring is typically intended to be a bag stop. Hope this helps. edit:typo
sporty 0 #7 July 21, 2003 Oh yeah, now you've pointed it out I can see that it would take all the load, not long before the bartacks gave way I guess too. Cheers DexterBase, yes it does help.
