Editing software

I plan on doing my own editing in the new year. I'm looking at: (nothing showed up on search)

sony vegas studio HD 11 ~ $50

'' '' '' platinum 11 ~ $68

'' '' '' platinum suite 11 ~ $90

Mostly just tandem vids, some crw and misc.

I'm leaning toward the middle one since I doubt I will need all of the features of the suite.

I won't need anything quick, but the money will burn a hole in my pocket (or my wife will find it).

Or should I wait for whatever comes out for 2012?

All the software releases for 2012 are announced/shipping. New releases in this market don't hit until June.

Sony
are all shipping their newest. Canopus will likely release a new version of Edius in April, shipping in June.

Not sure what you searched for, but I suspect Vegas and Premiere are the two most heavily-used apps in the skydiving world.
Platinum is your best bet if editing AVC/AVCHD are in your future plans.
