dthames 0 #4 January 31, 2012 QuoteA sony camera without OIS as I read that it doesn't work so well for skydiving The CX series do have "steady shot" and you can turn it off. From the user manual, "You can compensate for camera shake. Set [ SteadyShot] to [Off] ( ) when using a tripod (sold separately), then the image becomes natural. Active Provides a more powerful SteadyShot effect. Standard Provides a SteadyShot effect, performing wide-angle recording under relatively stable recording conditions. Off ( ) The SteadyShot function is not used." I don't have any knowledge of the model's use in skydiving, but they are pretty nice overall.Instructor quote, “What's weird is that you're older than my dad!”
dragon2 2 #5 January 31, 2012 QuoteI don't have any knowledge of the model's use in skydiving Yesss.... So better not to say anything. FYI: OIS can be switched off in the menu, but it can and will still vibrate when skydiving, especially when back/sitflying. It can vibrate up to the point where you cannot even see that the person right in front of you is even a PERSON. And yes people with up to 10.000+ skydives have tried to deal with this and mostly failed (and spent a lot of money in the process). So no, a camera with OIS is not to be recommended for skydiving. You want EIS. Or, read the FAQ. ciel bleu, Saskia
mchamp 1 #6 February 4, 2012 Been rather tired of waiting for a new sony camcorder that would do justice for skydiving. Really don't want to buy an older camera that costs just about the same price as a new model (even in ebay cx-150) So in light of that anyone care to comment on the 2012 sony camcorder lineup? Would any of them work? DSE?For info regarding lift ticket prices all around the world check out http://www.jumpticketprices.com/dropzones.asp
