takpoprostu 0 #1 December 17, 2012 Hi! This is my 1st post on the forum so I introduce myself. My name is Sebastian and I am writing to you from Poland. I'm 29 years old and a wonderful wife and 2 year old son :) You really apologize for my mistakes in the writing, I am weak in English. For a long time, want to buy a sports camera. My choice was: - Sony Action Cam - GoPro Hero 3 Silver Edition I know that Sony has a good image stabilization, mobile screen 360 "? Lcd, but it is very ugly blue picture: ( GoPro has a great picture but it does not have stability, and it is ugly in low light. Please tell me that most of you buy the GoPro Hero 3 silver? Do you prefer the Sony Action? The camera is not designed only for the "sport" but also sometimes for example, home recordings to celebrate a birthday party, etc I will be very grateful for your help. He wants you to choose for me :) Greetings from cold European Polish! Sebastian
mccordia 74 #2 December 17, 2012 If you're not shooting sports, and you dont have a reason to need a small one...get a real camera. In the same price-range you will find many good consumer cameras that have a much nicer picture for home stuff.JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
PiLFy 3 #3 December 22, 2012 Greetings, Sebastian. Your English is fine. I'm on small device that won't cut N paste. There's a recent, lengthy thread here on Sony's new action camera. It promised to be awesome, but isn't. Check out Trunk's site for his experiences w/the thing. After months of frustration, he now owns a $300 paperweight... You can save a lot of money by buying a Hero2, instead of the H3 Silver. The Cameras are almost identical in video/pic quality.
DSE 5 #4 December 22, 2012 Wow. I'm surprised to read from a guy that doesn't own either camera positioning a firm opinion about what one should/shouldn't buy. If webposts are the litmus test, there are tens of thousands of posts about problems with the GP3. Trunk opened his camera up. Sony apparently knew this. It voids the warranty. It's likely the camera was defective; all camera companies have defective cameras. GoPro and Atom both have defective cameras of mine. Flip side, I own roughly 60 action cams. Lots of jumps with them. Zero problems with the color, WB, or exposure in the Sony cams. Same can be said for Storage Wars LA, Texas, NYC, Parking Wars, and a host of other shows (yes, they're being used for broadcast). I'm not a Sony dealer, nor a GP dealer, nor a dealer for any camera company. Of the four AS15's I have, I paid for three of them. In other words, no dog in the hunt. I do like the Sony and the Replay better. Yet I have more GP cameras than any other camera.
PiLFy 3 #5 December 23, 2012 I never said I was an expert camera guy like yourself, Doug. I merely let him know of relevant opinions I've seen here. The H2 vs. H3 opinion was also your own, btw. I cited the thread for the OP to find. Ditto w/Trunk's experiences. The OP can read those for himself, too. Trunk says he never opened the camera up... Are you calling him a Liar? Not that it really matters here, but I do now own one of these cameras. I picked up a new Hero2 @almost half the price of an H3 silver. We all know you've a lot more experience w/photography than many of us. That doesn't negate the experiences & opinions of others. For someone w/no vested interest in Sony's new camera. You do seem pretty quick on the draw defending it. I had high hopes for the new Sony. I've since read enough problematic posts from those who know far more than me, to give me pause. I voted w/my wallet. The OP is free to do the same.
PiLFy 3 #6 December 24, 2012 Explain why you deleted my reply, Doug... <<If you use inflammatory words, and have your PM's set to not accept PM's from a moderator, then the post will be deleted. Outside of that, refer to the TOS.>>

PiLFy 3 #8 December 25, 2012 Quotehttp://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=4417530#4417530 You're the one that took a swipe at me first, Doug. The only inflammatory words I used, were my noticing that YOU called Trunk a liar... Look in the mirror. You've no high ground to claim. I haven't blocked all Mods, only you & BillVon. You both have caused that. My other observations in that deleted reply also still stand. It's now obvious I struck a nerve or two. I expected better from you, Doug. I stand corrected... The OP has the threads & Trunk's site to refer to, now. He'll make up his own mind.
