skydivegirl 0 #1 July 24, 2003 I'm supposed to have my pin tested this weekend (I assumed it was affected since I bought my rig from Mirage around Sep/Oct of last year). Out of curiosity I just looked at the numbers on the soft handle label and they say this: P/N SH01-25 and S/N MOO5353 The service bulletin says QuoteAffected Ripcord Pins are: MS70107 (angled), PS70107 (angled), 61C4304 (angled); 55A6480 (terminal) Does this mean mine is not affected or am I just looking at the wrong thing? ~SamPink Mafia Sis #
Hooknswoop 19 #2 July 24, 2003 QuoteMS70107 (angled), PS70107 (angled), 61C4304 (angled); 55A6480 (terminal) Are Capewell P/N's. QuoteP/N SH01-25 and S/N MOO5353 Is Mirage System's P/N and S/N. Mirages use an angled ripcord pin. Your ripcord is affectd by the SB. Hope this helps. Derek

GroundZero 0 #4 July 24, 2003 Thanks Sam... I thought I was the only idiot after reading the SB... I looked at a number of different rigs and pins fron varying dates... those numbers are meaningless... each manufacturer stamps different numbers in the handles and there are no markings on the pins... so if I take my affected ripcord from my 2002 Mirage and put that ripcord in my 1993 Javelin, it is no longer affected. Just solved that SB... but I may die as well when it fails, but I'll get into the WFFC without any problems... Poorly written SB and poor tracking trail for the manufacturers.... (oy! and I thought I was the only one that could make major blunders.) Chris

When I was at my dz last weekend, they had the SB posted and the S&TA guy said that my handle was fine. However in the above example, the PN/SN that skydivegirl had were different from the one that is listed in the SB, yet you say that it IS affected. I don't understand. My ripcord handle is labeled PL-02. Am I or am I not affected ? It is an Infinity made 12-2002. Butthead: Whoa! Burritos for breakfast! Beavis: Yeah! Yeah! indyz 1 #6 July 24, 2003 Corn, The P/Ns given in the service bulletin are Capewell's part number for the pin, not the entire pin/cable/handle assembly. Gear manufacturers put their own part and serial numbers on the ripcord assembly. PL-02 ripcords were made in 2002 by Parachute Labs (Jump Shack) with Capewell pins, and are affected. Samurai136 0 #7 July 24, 2003 Basically, If you got your ripcord or new container after thanksgiving of 2001; have it tested. I have an older javelin that I just (spring) had the bridal cover mod done and got a new ripcord(pillow) and tested it since the pin could have been part of the batch. I am rigger. Everything I have tested has passed and not bent. no cute comments. Ken"Buttons aren't toys." - Trillian Ken

Although, if my pin fails this weekend and I have to frantically look for a good pin for Rantoul in 1 week... BlindBrick 0 #10 July 28, 2003 Quote so if I take my affected ripcord from my 2002 Mirage and put that ripcord in my 1993 Javelin, it is no longer affected. You could cost your pilot and rigger their liscenses by doing that. The reserve ripcord is considered part of the reserve and therefore must be of a make/model approved for that container. -Blind"If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."
