Jakov 0 #1 June 19, 2013 Hi guys, anyone have experience with this new gen of sony cameras? Are they any good for skydiving purposes, since they are reasonably priced, and I m looking for an update of my equipment any suggestions will be appreciated. Jakov 0 #2 June 21, 2013 well, since no one got any idea, what would you recomend as a best buy camera for skydiving with a decent image quality and hypeye or similar form of control
Zlew 0 #3 June 21, 2013 I think there are some threads about these cameras out there. As I remember the 220 is similar to the 190. It will work but doesn't have threads for a wide angle (Trunk has a demo on how to add them yourself). The BOSS cameras seem to be doing really well also, but cost a little more. I can't remember specifically about the 280 or 320...but want to say they may have OIS.
Jakov 0 #4 June 24, 2013 k, thanks, I ll try to get my hands on 280 or 320 to see them in action.
Zlew 0 #5 June 24, 2013 i just checked. the 280 and 320 have OIS, which usually means a no go for skydiving. I think the 420 and 730 have BOSS (which is good for jumping).
Jakov 0 #6 June 25, 2013 well, how it seems from here, ill go for older generation like 115, 116 or similar due to ease of control, and since there are so many of them around ill try to get some used to get used to it and later switch to something newer. Zlew 0 #7 June 25, 2013 Not a bad idea. I still jump CX150's and they are doing just fine. Next season I may upgrade to something like a cx730 and a gopro/drift , but this season the 150's are still going strong.
DSE 5 #8 June 25, 2013 for tandem and student jumps, I'm still jumping CX110 and 150, simply for the cost/hassle factor.
Arcticanalog 0 #9 July 9, 2013 So has anyone jumped a cx220? I'm interested in all this as well. I'm wondering if any of the older boxes fit a 220.
