xojennett 0 #1 July 18, 2013 I have been weighing on changing my stills to using a go pro. It's lighter and smaller. Does it distort pics or have any other issues I should know about?
DSE 5 #2 July 18, 2013 It depends on the mode you use. http://i.ytimg.com/vi/WnB9ujKJW_M/0.jpg For tandems, the lil cameras are decent enough for web pix postings, but not for printing (IMO). Creatively speaking, they're useless.
Zlew 0 #3 July 19, 2013 Have you thought about any of the mirrorless options? Not GoPro small...but the setup I am running now is about the size of my phone, and weighs 3/4's of a pound. There is a good range of options out there that range from really good for low cost (300ish) to more expensive rigs with the same sensor as your canon (APSC). Jacked 0 #4 July 21, 2013 There are many variables to this question, What are you trying to do? Just get by, or leave an impression? The gorpo is great handling video and for a spray and pray approach to photos will handle the job of any tandem mill.. The still photo, in my world, is what the video puts me into a position to take.. No matter how big the chip or how many megapixels the camera shoots with, They all have one big disadvantage, they only take a photo as good as the glass they look through... The gopro is a fine video platform and will get you by selling handycam packages with stills included...That is if thats all you're wanting to do. Your skill level will do exactly that level off someplace midstream... Look into the mini camera systems with interchangeable lens if your concerned with weight or a rebel series with some good glass (if your not worried about weight) and explore the magic of aerial photography... I like a hero 2 on a medium field of view (matches a .5 on a cx150 pretty damn close) set at 120 fps for freefall footage, That leaves more room for the still platform, a T3i with a 10-22 canon lens or something in the mini's line like previously mentioned...The end result is directly connected to the effort applied
Jacked 0 #5 July 24, 2013 When I said "Skill level" I was just referring to the settings on your camera and the matching of your environment. You know, photography The end result is directly connected to the effort applied
