DougH 270 #2 August 1, 2013 You are a little late to the party, I am positive this was in a few posts; and no, no one fessed up. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
Scrumpot 1 #3 August 1, 2013 "2lb, 9-inch ZOOM lens, with an EW-83H lenshood affixed" -? Somehow I doubt that came off a skydiver/videographer at all - but who knows, there's some pretty WHACKED ideas of what makes a good sky-jumping vid/camera set-up, going on out there, after all. Carry on.coitus non circum - Moab Stone
Scrumpot 1 #4 August 1, 2013 Besides, the only dropzones "right there" at Petaluma - are ALL (several of them, from what I can find ) SkyRide operations anyway. No way anyone from there is ever gonna fess-up, to ANYTHING!! coitus non circum - Moab Stone
jimmytavino 16 #5 August 1, 2013 pretty likely it fell from an aircraft... but not likely a skydiver would be involved...Could have been a helicopter, Could have been Police. Could have been a paparazzi (sp).Could have been some idiot sightseeing with the lens OUT the opening of an aircraft window... and it broke off while trying to bring it back IN to the Cabin......could have been USA Homeland Security..... now i feel REAAAAALLLL secure... for SURE.... it wasn't me... Bignugget 0 #6 August 2, 2013 That tiny ass hole, and 2 window screens Estimated $4500 repair. Like when the police seize a pound of pot and estimate its value at 14k
DSE 5 #7 August 2, 2013 so the people whose house this fell through are assholes, because they're being charged for the repair? Seriously? Did they bargain for a lens to come shooting out of the sky from a plane, parachutist, glider? Is it reasonable to expect gliders, airplanes, balloon, skydivers to drop something through the roof of a home? Why are they bad people when a large, heavy lens goes through their roof unannounced? Scrumpot 1 #9 August 2, 2013 I think he was referring to the size of the hole in the roof overhang, pictured in the media report, Spot - and the assessment of the damages related to it. Not his assessment of the homeowners themselves.coitus non circum - Moab Stone
DSE 5 #10 August 2, 2013 I'm sensitive to the context based on how skydivers reacted to the flag weight dropped through a trailer roof a couple weeks ago. Skydivers ripped on the homeowner for being dramatic "It almost killed my daughter." The size of the hole is what it is. A missile of lethal ability came through the roof of their house. Only the contractors that came out to assess the damage can make a call as to the cost. God forbid they track this down to a skydiver. Two objects dropped by skydivers, going through the roof of a dwelling, within a two week span...scary thought if the FSDO wants to make it challenging. swisschris62 0 #11 August 3, 2013 Petaluma also isn't one of the cheaper areas to be in in N. Ca. A few miles down the road in Marin county it might have cost 7g.
The111 1 #12 August 3, 2013 DSE so the people whose house this fell through are assholes He used the word ass as an adverb to extend the phrase "tiny hole." It was a poor ass choice or words, or a wrong ass interpretation, one or the other. No assholes were involved. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
