potatoman 0 #1 September 10, 2013 Got a G3, and mainly using it for 4way, but was wondering if anyone has mounted a gopro on the chin area rather than on top. If so, pics would be nice. Also anything to look out for when mounted on the chin, like the angle or specific snag points etc? I jump another helmet for vids.....Just playing with the idea. You have the right to your opinion, and I have the right to tell you how Fu***** stupid it is. potatoman 0 #4 September 10, 2013 That looks nice, but cannot see if it will work with the housing? You have the right to your opinion, and I have the right to tell you how Fu***** stupid it is. HerculesOstberg 0 #5 September 10, 2013 That chin mount is without gopro's own housing. It would be to clumsy with the housing. The mount would have to stand out to much to fit the housing and that would make it more fragile and less secure. Just below, you have two videos mostly shot (about 90%) with the mount and in the second one at 1:45 you can see the mount in action :) https://vimeo.com/groups/gryttjom/videos/74148250 https://vimeo.com/groups/gryttjom/videos/74055275 Good luck :)
potatoman 0 #6 September 10, 2013 Clouds and fog, and rain? It does happen. You have the right to your opinion, and I have the right to tell you how Fu***** stupid it is. HerculesOstberg 0 #7 September 10, 2013 Well, there's no more problems in coulds and fog than you'd have with the housing, and rain.. Where I jump, we don't jump in rain when we can avoid it ;)
potatoman 0 #8 September 10, 2013 Generally we avoid it too, but....Storms move in fast, and when you spent some time in the aircraft to alti, the general feeling is, f^&%$, lets jump. Hail makes for quite interesting patterns on the body....and crappy footage. You have the right to your opinion, and I have the right to tell you how Fu***** stupid it is. grellfab 0 #9 September 10, 2013 I've been jumping a lot with this mount. If there is risk for rain it is really easy to dismount the camera and put it in a pocket while still in the plane. You won't even have to take off your helmet :)
Nille-81 0 #10 September 11, 2013 I use this mount, and I must say that I like it allot. Really easy to use and to disconnect the camera if necessary. The thing I like the most is that if you get a line that gets caught in the mount, the sheer force will rip the mount of instead of you breaking your neck before you get a chance to pull your cut-cable. Which has been a problem with the ones you use bolts on to secure the mount.
Fuzzwah 0 #11 September 11, 2013 Any chance of getting a photo of someone wearing a helmet with this mount all set up?
grellfab 0 #12 September 13, 2013 Here's a photo of the 33mount in action. I'll add some more later on. Take a look at http://grellfab.tictail.com/product/33mount There you will find instructions to download and some more pics. Blue skies! :D
