zkulls 3n mount problem

I've just got a zkulls 3n mount with 2 plates so I can change between video and stills easily.

However I just can't get the plates to turn smoothly in the mount, so twisting the camera to turn the plate to align or remove it always results in the camera twisting on the plate messing up the set up and defeating the purpose of the mount.

The supplied instructions don't give any help, but are you meant to oil the plates or something? Or could this be a result off an ever so slight distortion on the mount when screwing it all in?

I'm at a loss, and hope there's a solution as it just doesn't work for me at all just now!
