FrE3minD 0 #2 January 11, 2015 Looks nice, but the first thing is: - It's field of view ist 240 !! Pretty impressive anyway, but far away from 360 :) ---> EDIT: Wow, pretty impressive, according to a magazine it's got indeed 360degrees horizontal, and 240 degrees vertical !! The other thing I'm wandering about is: - are the promovideos somehow modified to reduce fish-eye effects? - How compatible will these videofiles be, or how will they look if you don't use (/have) the special player for it? But may be worth a shot when it is available :)
mccordia 74 #3 January 11, 2015 Most of these cameras are only useable for the 360 viewing. If you look at the resolution of 1504 x 1504, then cropping the image down to a around 120 to max 180 degree view, you're basically watching an image somewhere in the 750 to 376 pixels wide only. Fun as a gimmick, but for this type of shooting to be remotely useful, you'd need a minimum resolution of 4K or more (seeing as the cropped end result will always be 1/3rd up to 1/4th of the resolution at best) It is an interesting technology, think for instance of having a single belly or helmet mounted camera on a wingsuit or freefly jump, but able to afterward choose back, side, bottom or front view depending on subject. But currently, stitched GoPro (or similar) rigs, provide a higher resolution plate. The results are fun to watch for sure. On http://www.wingsvr.com/#about you can also see an example. But again, outside of the 360 degree interactive viewing experience, for normal video, we are currently missing the resolution on this toy.JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
