WMO 0 #1 April 6, 2015 Would appreciate guidance on which processor, how much RAM, and SSD or conventional hard drive for improving my render/burn times using Sony Vegas Platinum or Pro. What's optimum, what's overkill. Thanks...
DSE 5 #2 April 6, 2015 Anything with CUDA or GPU acceleration is good. I run Vegas on an old MacBook Pro with a slow 1.83 dual proc, and am very happy. SSD is great for boot/operation, but you'll need an external or separate drive for media itself. 8-16 GB of RAM is plenty. Vegas uses ram for only two purposes; background renders and still photo buffers (for those uber-large 20MP stills). it also uses RAM when multiple copies of Vegas are open (if you're rendering 3-4 tandem videos at once, you'll be pleased with having 8-16GB of RAM). That's truly about it for Vegas.
riso2k4 0 #3 April 9, 2015 Agree with DSE. SSD is great and does help speeds, but can become a large pain because you absolutely will need an external. Depending on your budget, the best thing might be a larger internal SATA. That way you don't always need to be carrying an external around with you. wetrock 0 #4 April 13, 2015 after using my new computer with ssd setup I will not go back to using a hdd. I can open Vegas pro 13 in 3 seconds... I have a separate ssd for current media and that speeds up play back as well with less dropped frames and smother play back.
