First Helmet

Recommended Posts

I am looking into buying a skydiving helmet and just want some thoughts on what to look for. First off, I really don't see myself doing any camera action, so don't need a camera helmet. Just looking for one that that I can do some great freeflying around in. I wear shades when I jump, Curv-Z to be exact, and I have noticed with the helmets at my D.Z. they squeeze my shades on my temples. Really uncofortable. Any help would be cool.

just go in to your local gear shop, and just try on all the helmets they have in there. bring along your sunglasses to see how they fit with the helmet too.

all of the gear shops I've been to have no problems with you trying on their helmets in the shop.

Gath helmets aren't too bad for starters but they don't protect much...I'd do what i did and go with the mindwarp from bonehead. Comfortable, safe and when you get into camera work you can stick a d-box on the side.
but defenatly check out if you can get a used one that fits.

What!!? I have a policy: you try it, you buy it. B|

naw, just kidding. Some shops will have demo helmets that you can jump (we do), too.

People around here are really liking the aviator helmets these days. They look good, and you can get a sweet custom one really fast. Any gear shop should be able to hook you up. :)
