Exits!!!

Recommended Posts

Just wanted to discuss differen't exit techniques. I know what works for me but it seems like MOST people do not know how to make a good flower exit. In a 2 way I like to hop out from a crauched position in the door. Remaining in a vertical attitude. Staying in exactly the same position as when we were crouched in the door. IE Feet up, staying close. Let it transition to HD and then you can start to fly. The two things that drive me nuts are people trying to roll out and ones that don't pick up their feet. That makes you spin like crazy!
OK....2 ways I'm great at. How about more than that. I think you have to roll out so that the people not closest to the door can end up on top of the horizontal formation. They just have to remember to exit easy and don't over do it. You experts out there.....how does all this sound so far?

try this for a smooth easy exit. both jumpers outside the door standing. front float has back to prop. rear float is facing front float. let go and front float rolls over backwards. rear float rolls forward over front float. when i say roll i mean transition from standing on the plane, backwards (front float,) to headdown. the key is to just drop off the plane. release your hand and remove your foot and drop straight off. if you leap off the momentum will cause a spin.

I do have a funny story about a tailgate exit. Atlanta Free Flight Festival last year out of a CASA. It was me, Aviatrr, and watcher. 3 way flower. I said..."OK.....we just all hop off together." Everyone agrees....we walk back....and the other two kind of lean towards the back and fall out!!! As this is happening I'm thinking OH SHIT!!! This is gonna be funny. So we end up horizontal with feet towards the plane. Not good!!! Well after a few seconds the funniest thing happened. We go back into a stand up and stay there for I bet 2-3 seconds just like we were standing around on the ground. Funny stuff. Aviatrr may have it on video somewhere.
The correct way is to hop off either straight up or leaning slightly towards the plane so it makes you transition faster.

Best exit out a skyvan .Face the rear of the plane on the edge. Step out and and with a slight lean backwards exit the plane. This puts you into the easiest headdown position ever. No work at all. Great for big group headdown flower exits.
