grega 0 #1 April 18, 2002 Can anyone please tell me to how fly on my back. Tracking on my back is no problem, but how to move forward, turn and change my fallrate. For example if i'd like to shoot a video of a formation from below.Any answer/advice would be helpful, thanks."Do the monkey with me!"
Trent 0 #2 April 18, 2002 I've shot a few formations from underneath, and it takes some getting used to. To start, learn to fly a slow sit in a reclining position, depending on how slow you are, this might be enough. I have to completely lay out on my back, and arch towards the formation. I usually keep my arms straight out at the sides or over my head to counter the push I get from having my legs extended. If you don't mind turning a lot under the formation, keep your arms to the sides and straighten out your whole body. You'll have to turn in order to keep your position directly under the formation, but it makes for some cool video. You can always control your fall rate by pushing your hips up towards the formation to slow down, or by dropping your butt a little towards the ground to speed up.Hope that ramble helped a little. rgoper 0 #4 April 19, 2002 the "backfling" training you may recieve now, and the backflying required to film rw groups requires two different types of flight suits, my suggestion is whichever you choose to do, make sure you have suffcient training with the winged suit that will be required to fly camera over/under formations. as for learning the backfling manuevuer simply exit the air craft in a back to earth position, watch the whole aircraft fly away, and hold it until the next group exits, hold it longer, and longer each time, next thing ya know, you just transform into a sit, or a belly to earth, or headdown, whichever you choose. in any event, go to square ones's website, and order the "goodstuff" cd rom, or i believe you can order it off of the front page of this forum, yep, i do believe. whatever path you choose, ask lots of questions, don't be shy. good luck, be safe!Richard"Gravity Is My Friend"
PhreeZone 20 #5 April 19, 2002 Actually I have started learning back flying in the last few jumps and my freefly suit works just fine. I have started flying camera in my freefly suit too... Wings would give me more range of control, but the freefly suit works just fine for now. Relaxing is a big part of back flying..."Hey.. Its my camera, and my remote...
