Semi eliptical Canopies

Recommended Posts

Quote

Hi
I am looking to get myself a semi eliptical or square as my first canopy.
I am quite keen on the hornet - but as I am going to purchase second hand, could u please give me some advise on other canopies that are comparable.

Thanks

Do a search.... This question has been asked like a 1000 times before. Look also for spectre, silhouette, sabre, safire, triathlon, etc.

Also remember, we don't know you, so ask your instructor about which canopies/sizes are suitable for you. Also, try and demo, to see which canopy you like.

Hornet used to be manufactured by PISA, but the company's now under Aerodyne Research. The Hornet equivalent now will be the Pilot. The other canopy will be Safire by Icarus.

I've more than 200 jumps on a 170 Hornet at a 1:1.1 loading in my earlier days. I actually prefer the Hornet over the original Sabre, but that's just me.

Well my opinion will fall under the "He's only saying that cause he flies one" but I fly a HOR 150 and love it, (1.19 WL) . I could tell you things I've heard about other above mentioned canopies but I havnt flown them al;l and it would be 3rd party info So I'm just going keep my mouth shut!!:P

I have jumped a Zp EXE and am currently jumping a friends rig with a Hornet 170 - I really like the Hornet, and Am looking for a second hand 150 /170 ( I weight 58KG)
But considering that they are very popular canopies in South Africa, I Know it may be difficult, that is why I want something similar if possible

Thanks for the Info :P
