Zennie 0 #1 June 2, 2002 I'm officially at another impasse in my freeflying. I can fairly regularly get within 10 -15 feet of another flier in head down but I just can't seem to bring myself to close that last bit of distance. I've talked ot a fair number of freefliers about this and seems to be a pretty common "phase".I have a similar, though less pronounced problem sitflying. I can give a toe dock, but can't really hold it. Haven't succesfully done a thigh or shoulder dock.Just from thinking about it a bit, if someone comes up and docks on me, it's no big deal. I just can't seem to do it myself. I'm pretty certain it's a mental block... not wanting to crash into the other person, wanting to be smooth and steady. So I know I'm not being aggressive enough. So anyway, for those of you that had similar problems how did you get past it? Were there any drills that helped?"Zero Tolerance: the politically correct term for zero thought, zero common sense."
ramon 0 #2 June 3, 2002 try a knee dock next time with another skydiver that is more prone to try and fly the position than cork and bail. thing is you try and fly it also. We'll dock this weekendOfficial team name for the Spaclenad thing shall be the "Zoom Dweebies' until you can dock ramon
Rachill 0 #3 June 3, 2002 Hey Zennie, We can go do some drill dives this weekend. I am pretty stable in my sit, even if someone docks hard or holds on to me. Trent and Jed have some good drill dives for sitfly that I have done with them and it has helped a lot, so let's do some this weekend.Just remember one thing that usually helps me a lot on sit jumps when trying to dock..... Slow is fast. But, after that, you will have to sit for me and let me try the same thing on my head. Cool?I am at the same position you are on my head. I can't seem to get to close to the other person. I don't want to go in to fast and end up zooming by.BLUE SKIESWhat happened to Turbo? He was to slow so we...... Zennie 0 #4 June 3, 2002 Quoteafter that, you will have to sit for me and let me try the same thing on my headYou got a deal. My guess is we can both fix our problems if we go into it up front accepting that there's going to be some "full contact skydiving" for a while. Levin 0 #5 June 3, 2002 i think you two should go out, face off and just fly your columns in front of each other. if 10 - 15 feet is the distance yall are having trouble closing then face off at that distance and fly your slots all the way down. forget about docking. if you can succesfully do that then do it again from say 8 to 10 feet. then maybe 6 - 8 feet. keep doing it until yall can fly your slots literally in each others face. then the dock will just happen. don't get in a hurry. concentrate on proximity (a pre-determined distance) and fallrate.in case you are accidentally carving or orbiting the person you are wanting to dock (very common) then try doing it on purpose with control. you will likely find this very difficult. and you may also find that by attempting to master something you are doing on accident, may be a quick fix for doing something you are doing unintentionally. i probably didn't word that very weel, but you get the idea.levingrat # 40rf # (1) forthcoming
Levin 0 #6 June 3, 2002 QuoteOfficial team name for the Spaclenad thing shall be the "Zoom Dweebies' until you can dock anybody know what the actually agenda is for the "Spaclenad thing" this weekend? think there will be time to work in a dz.com record and another vscr attempt (maybe somewhere a little less humid and with better visibility) this saturday? Zennie 0 #7 June 3, 2002 Quoteanybody know what the actually agenda is for the "Spaclenad thing"Ya they run Thursday thru Tuesday. My guess is the compulsory draw will be Wed. or Thurs., Trent would know that. You just need to submit video for the two compulsory rounds and one open round. You can do them whenever during that period and just submit your best video. So yeah I think we can squeeze the other stuff in there. And if it gets too crazy, you only need to do 2 out of the three weekends so we can skip this one if need be."Zero Tolerance: the politically correct term for zero thought, zero common sense." Rachill 0 #8 June 3, 2002 Thanks Levin, I think Zennie and I should try it this weekend and we will let you know how it goes! You rock dude! And Zennie, I have a problem with carving sometimes, so maybe we should take Levins advice and try to carve around each other and maybe it will help me stop carving when I don't mean to..... make sense?Man, this is going to be a good weekend!!!!Hope to see everybody out for the Freefly League Meet #1BLue SkiesWhat happened to Turbo?
