Texas Bigways II - Spaceland

Recommended Posts

To all the Texas freeflier:
(and those who want to travel here!)

Skydive Spaceland will be hosting a bigway freefly event this October 5th and 6th! We're looking to have all the bad-asses that helped make the bigways at SkyFest a success, and some new bad-asses... help to build another STATE RECORD.

We've got several solid flyers here that can help us reach the 10+ mark, but we need everyone to come out and see how big it can get! The event will coincide with a RW 40 way camp, so there will be loads flying all day from both Otters.

For more information, or to let us know you're interested... email trentalkek@yahoo.com . We hope to see you there!
Oh, hello again!

Hey, let's keep the word on this event rolling. We've got a couple of guys coming down from NY to help us get even bigger. This should be a great bigway weekend!

Tell your friends and family!

And we're working on logistics, but we should definitely have organizing for the lower-time freeflyers!

While I'm sure I'm not the absolute authority on what it takes to get in on bigways... I'll tell you what we're going to be looking for.

People have to have demonstrated the ability to HOLD STILL. Very important if you're in the base or if you're trying to dock on it. One little waver of your legs can tear apart the entire formation. If you can hold still, can you do it for the entire 50 second jump? It's harder than you think.

People have to leave egos at the parking lot. If someone knows they're not at the level to do something, they have to ask to be replaced... or not get mad when they are replaced.

Stinging on bigways is hard. You have to be sure that your dock is absolutely no tension. Again, if it is... you're making it hard for the people you're docked on and even harder for the people to dock on you.

And most importantly, you have to be safe. Realize that you're in the air with a lot of people and be sure to 180 and back track out of your slot at your designated break-off altitude.

Since we start with smaller formations 4-8-12- etc. We'll see who in each group is holding their own and has the skill to get on the actual record attempts. Once that base is solid, we add 4 stingers, once that's solid, we add four more. Everyone gets a shot to show their abilities.

And remember, setting the record is great, but it's all about fun and learning!

Hey Trent???? Are you guys (and girls) going to be taking advatage of our nice little oxygen set up in the super otter for the actual attempts?
Those x-tra seconds would be cool from 20,000 ft!B| Just wondering?

Hey man, come on down! B| I felt bad I didn't get to jump with you during the big-way weekend. I'm sure we can put some fun stuff together.

Just don't let me be a hanger on any hybrids and everything will be just fine. :$

Hey Trent, who do you have slated to organize the dives for the record attempts.
And are you going to put out a list of who is on these attempts.
Are there going to be try-outs for those who are not positive of their abilities?
I am really curious of who is going to be on these dives. You can PM if you would like.
Oh, and we were doing 20-ways in Elsinore from 18k so for a 12-way that's more than enough altitude.
What is Steve planning on charging for the 18k jumps?
If you have a dive plan and costs please email it, I am really interested in seeing what can be done with this attempt.
