Arizona-freeflight or AFI

im off to arizona soonish, and im hoping to have alaska john come and coach me but failing that theres mike ortiz(AFI)and arizona freeflight(Omar and crew). Im not being funny but ive heard alot of really bad stuff about omar(attitude towards his students, being not terribly friendly, bad attitude)is this true or not? Im not making a statement, just want to know what everyone else has experienced.
Mike Ortiz comes highly recomended, everyone has alot of really good things to say about him, so i'll probably go down that road. What does everyone think of the two?

Haven't heard anything about Omar one way or the other, but I have heard consistently good things about Mike Ortiz.

I had a conversation with Omar last night here at Nationals, and he seemed like a great, down to earth guy.

I had a chance to chat with Mike Ortiz a while back and I chatted with Omar while I was at Eloy. Both seemed very personable and helping, although I didn't deal with them in a student/teacher manner, so that may be different.

Remember, rumors tend to start from someone's single experience with someone, Omar may have been having a really bad day or something.

If I could go anywhere and get coaching from anybody I wanted right now I would go to Mike Ortiz. He's an excellent coach and person.
Me and a friend were just discusing this yesterday and we both said the same thing about who we would like to get coaching from.

Sean McCormac, he also works at AFI, did some coaching with him, great guy, laid back, excellent instructor, defiantely knows his shit.....I don't know Omar, but AFI is a good choice.

We just got back from Nationals and were talking to both AZ Freeflight and AFI guys. They are all really down to earth and EXCELLENT flyers. You can't go wrong either way.

I had the pleasure of getting coached by Mike Ortiz during the Summer Solstice Boogie in Alaska this year.

Very nice, friendly, methodical instructor. I'll have to post that video on skydivingmovies.com soon for all to see and agree that I should stick with RW.

Anyway, if you see Mike, tell him I said "hi".

I got coaching from both Mike Ortiz and Omar and they are very friendly and helpful. Personally I could work better with Mike, but this might be just me. If you get coaching do a few jumps with different people and then you find out who can teach you better.

Where is AFI based?

AZ Freeflight are wicked but you might not always get a long pre-jump brief with Omar or see him for a couple of lifts afterwards. He is friendly , I think if you are upbeat and positive when you meet it will benefit you
